St David's has an enviable track record of success in placing pupils at all the most prestigious local secondary schools, both independent and maintained. Each year many scholarships, bursaries and free places are a regular feature of our pupils excellent secondary school entrance examination results.
At St David's, however, education is seen as much more than just the passing of examinations and therefore great emphasis is placed on educating the child to the full, in other words, equipping him or her to make the most of their talents in an adult world. Boys and girls normally join aged 3+ and stay until 11 to gain the full benefit of the school's educational system.
The school is linked to St Mark's Church, Purley, and developing a proper sense of right and wrong is a theme that runs strongly through all aspects of the school's education. Tolerance, however, is equally important and pupils from many different backgrounds and religions are happily integrated into the school's caring environment. With its own games field, St David's is not short of sporting stars - soccer, rugby, netball, cricket, tennis, rounders, athletics, cross country running, gymnastics and swimming are pursued with enthusiasm - the experts and the less talented all have a chance to have a go. Music and drama are also considered important - each child learns to play the recorder and several musical and dramatic performances are put on each year. Small classes and a dedicated staff help to make St David's one of the most popular schools in the area.
As an accredited member of the Independent Schools Joint Council and the Independent Schools Association, St David's is playing its part in the development of independent education across the country.
